Stephen J. Lanzel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Catalus Corporation (formerly SMC Powder Metallurgy), St. Marys, Pennsylvania, received the “Distinguished Service to Powder Metallurgy” award from the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) for his outstanding career achievements.
Established in 1968, the award was presented by MPIF President John F. Sweet, PMT, at POWDERMET2019, the International Conference on Powder Metallurgy & Particulate Materials, in Phoenix, Arizona. MPIF is the trade association for the North American metal powder and particulate materials producing and consuming industries.
The award recognizes professionals who have devoted a major part of their careers to one or more segments of the powder metallurgy industry and whose contributions and achievements deserve special recognition.
Steve has held several positions within the company over his 44 years at this family-owned and operated business. Steve served on the Powder Metallurgy Parts Association (PMPA) Board of Directors from 1996 to 1999. He has been a dedicated APMI International member for more than 40 years and is a long-time supporter of the Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology (CPMT). Steve is a frequent attendee at MPIF POWDERMET conferences, the MPIF Management Summit, and PMPA membership meetings.
