At Catalus, we strive to keep our advanced manufacturing capabilities at the forefront of the industry. Whether you’re a product engineer or a purchaser, you need to stay ahead of rapid industry changes as the demand for new and better product grows. Over the past 70 years, Catalus Corporation advanced manufacturing expertise has transformed powder metallurgy into a cutting-edge process that goes beyond your expectations while anticipating your future needs and opportunities.
Advanced Manufacturing Capabilities Offered by Catalus
Some highlights of our R & D Center include 3D manufacturing capabilities, simple stress analysis, a metallurgical lab, Autodesk Inventor, Esprit, 2D AutoCad and rapid prototyping.
Catalus features CMMs (both automated and manual), density scales, robotic vision systems, resonant inspection, data collection and gear measurement systems for all your powder metallurgy needs.
Our furnaces are equipped with atmosphere controlled sintering capabilities and can sinter up to 2400 degrees Fahrenheit. Proud to be environmentally friendly, we offer closed looped cooling systems, reducing the impact on the environment.
We offer both in-house and outside secondary capabilities, including: vibratory finishing, rust inhibit dip, oil impregnation, assembly, sinter bonding and honing. Outside capabilities range from drilling to machining, grinding, heat treatment, high energy tumbling, assembly and many, many more.
When it comes to compacting, we offer multiple multi-action presses, from 45 to 825 tons.
Multiple presses ranging from 45 to 200 max tons are employed for sizing and coining jobs.
The growth at Catalus comes from combining our experience in tool design and development, compacting, sizing/coining, sintering with the knowledge of what secondary advanced manufacturing capabilities are in our area. As one of the nation’s only world-class suppliers, we are able to construct complex products you simply won’t find with other powder metallurgy manufacturers while maintaining all the advantages powder metallurgy offers. With our IATF-16949 certification and the upcoming launch of our St. Marys facility, Catalus is poised to take powder metal manufacturing to a new level.
What is Manufacturing Capability?
Manufacturing capabilities refer to the wide range of processes, equipment and resources available to produce products. When it comes to our manufacturing capabilities, our manufacturing facility in Galeton continues to push the limits of what can be accomplished with powder metal technology. Catalus produces parts for many different industries, and our exposure to a wide range of end uses allows us to take success stories from one market and apply that technology in other markets we serve. In order to fuel our growth and take us to the next level, we’ve dedicated a portion of our production facility for our research and development center. These facilities allow us to take full control of the engineering process and deliver better manufacturing solutions to our customers.
